Our first shipment of teak horses is primarily for the local Kentucky market. We are going to crate and ship only 12 horses from our initial 40.
We have applied a quantity discount for people wishing to create a scene or simply purchasing more than one. The quantity discount is as follows:
|Standard Horse (includes grazing)||Foal|
|1||0%||$ 2,500||1||0%||$ 1,900|
This discount grid applies to shipped or local pick-up
The crating and shipping fee is $800. There is no quantity break in the shipping rate. The primary expense is the crate and plywood cost. Pick-up is always free (no crate). The foal shipping is $600. We will only ship to the 48 continental states.
Shipping will be standard freight delivery. We will add lift-gate to your delivery. This may help in some cases of delivery. This is not a white-glove delivery. You will receive the horse in a crate. You will be responsible to uncrate.
There are several basic designs. Each has a few unique differences. The running/galloping horse will not be shipping. This horse has only 2 legs touching the ground and will require more thought on shipping. We initially did not plan on shipping any horses, but since the demand seems very positive from outside Kentucky, we’ve decided to try 12.
The designs are basic and not action-oriented. There is a grazing horse.
TEAK HORSE CONSTRUCTION
The teak horses have a metal frame below the legs. This is not shown in photographs. The metal frame can be removed if needed. The teak scraps are screwed together and not nailed (like some imports). The hooves are made of metal and contain an iron rod that runs partially up “inside” the leg. This adds stability.
The wood is teakwood and can remain outdoors in the weather. The photo above highlights what your horse may look like in 1-2 years of rain and snow. The horse ships unfinished. You can stain, paint, or leave it unfinished.
NOTE FROM OWNER
For many years, I’ve searched for quality horses. For many years, the only horses available and sold were poorly constructed and grossly proportioned “animals”. And the few driftwood horse artists sell their horses in the $15-100k range. I was extremely excited to find an affordable wood horse option in these scrap horses.
Your deposit is 100% refundable. Your deposit gives you a place holding right to one of the 12 horses we will crate. Your $1000 is a deposit and the final balance including shipping will be billed before shipping from KY. This will likely be mid-July. No delivery dates are guaranteed. Your deposit will be billed when you place this order. At any time, you may request your deposit back.
If you order 1 standard horse, you will place a deposit of $1000 against the purchase price of $2500. You will have a $1500 balance + $800 shipping charge for a total due at shipping of $2300.
If you order 2 standard horses, you will place a deposit of $2000 against the purchase price of $2250 x 2 = $4500. You will have a balance of $2500 +$1600 shipping charge for a total due at shipping of $4100.
PICKING YOUR HORSE
You will have the option of various photographs. If you are unhappy with the selection, we will refund your deposit. Obviously, there is not 40 wildly random horse options. The horse selection will have 3-4 primary poses.
If you are local or wish to visit the store to view the collection, then you do not need to place an order here. If you visit the warehouse and pick a horse, we will not ship the horse. It is only available for store pick-up. Our store does not deliver locally. All 12 horses chosen for shipping will come crated from Indonesia. The remaining 28 horses will be 20 sold locally in Lexington and 8 available for local rental (weddings and parties).
We have 2 sample horses arriving in mid-May. They may be viewed in the store
SIZE OF HORSES
They are roughly 70-71″ to top of head, 19-20″ in the body, and 91-100″ in length – 14 hands.
If you are looking for Big Brown or Secretariat sizes (16 hands), then check back later in the year. The 15 hands will be $2750, 16 hands $3000, and 17 hands $3250.
