Listen, here is the ideal steamer deal. The steamer construction and brass set are all heavy-duty, but the teak quality will be 3-star. Why waste your money on some low-cost steamer that claims a-grade when its just going to break from poor construction and thin proportions. Your 200lb+ body isn’t made for the normal standard import steamer. This is why you haven’t seen steamers on this site for almost 18 months. We don’t buy steamers unless it’s a deal and its made well. This steamer has 25% more teak in the construction AND the brass set is attached properly.

NOTE ON STEAMER BRASS SETS
There are many types of brass sets for steamers. They are not the same. Some might even function the same with the lift or click ability in the arm, but the thickness of the brass is also a concern. This is a two-part problem on the low-cost steamers…..their poor fit and the quality of the brass set. The mid-level sets aren’t bad and should be the minimum considered. The brass set used on this steamer is one of the best we’ve seen – if not the best.

NOTE ON STEAMERS IN GENERAL
Even the best steamers are still somewhat fragile to our big bodies. This is a design from the 1900s…..and the Biggest Loser wasn’t a weekly TV show. Too often people grab the arm and proceed to lift themselves from the chair. Standard steamers aren’t prepared for this…..this steamer is thicker in all proportions. We are not saying this steamer won’t bust, but there isn’t another steamer with a better fighting chance (at this price)!

In the end, we think the compromise on the teak quality versus the increased quality of the teak construction and brass set makes this the ideal teak steamer deal.
