The table is a little tight if you leave the extension inside with 6 chairs. It is definitely a Dr. Fauci No-No table. When you pull the extension out, the 6 chairs are better suited at that spacing. You could use this as a 4 chair table and place the other 2 chairs aside. You’ll have several options with the table.
